Ghordo is a pedalist first, guitarist second. Well, probably bassist second, but the point is it's his ever revolving array of foot pedals that take center stage in his project Room 47.
After a two decade hiatus from being in bands like Boys From Recreation Park, Ghordo is back in the basement again with some solo tracks, backed only by the sound of a rumbling washing machine. Reverb and Craigslist trades are Ghordo's heroin of choice, and it shows. Room 47's instrumental tracks display various reverbs, echoes, delays, decays, and other weird stuff that blend together into something shoegaze adjacent, but too abrupt and stop/start to fit into anything considered dreamy and relaxing. Ghordo's work is pure 1-take improv dadgaze-aze--aze---aaze----aaaze-----aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaze. Room 47's second release, an EP titled "Drop" came out in January 2025 and ventures into even more experimental territories, with LMJP VP Charlie referring to it as "avant-ghorde".
